PULAO

REQUIRED :

Rice                             1 cup (180 g) / 237 mL
Water                           2 cups (360 g) / 474 mL                          
Onion, thinly sliced          1 medium
Oil or Ghee                    5 tbsp (75mL)                                                                
Cashew nuts                   5 - 6 pcs.
Raisins                          6 – 8 pcs.
Cloves                           2 pcs.
Cinnamon Stick 1"            1 pc.
Peppercorns                    3-4 pcs
Salt                              1/8 tsp or to taste
Green Cardamom             2 pcs

COOKING METHOD:

Fry the cashew nuts and raisins and keep separatley. 
Fry the onions slices in a pan with the oil/ghee till golden brown. 
Add cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns and cardamoms and fry for a minute. 
Then add the rice and fry on low heat so that the rice grains are coated with oil/ghee. 
Add salt and cover the rice with 2 cups of boiling water. 
Bring to a boil and then simmer till the water is absorbed. 
Once the pulao is ready, garnish with the fried cashews and raisins and serve hot.
